Effects of poly[styrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐styrene] on the charge distributions of low‐density polyethylene/polystyrene blends

The effect of the triblock copolymer poly[styrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐styrene] (SEBS) on the formation of the space charge of immiscible low‐density polyethylene (LDPE)/polystyrene (PS) blends was investigated. Blends of 70/30 (wt %) LDPE/PS were prepared through melt blending in an internal mixer at a blend temperature of 220 °C. The amount of charge that accumulated in the 70% LDPE/30% PS blends decreased when the SEBS content increased up to 10 wt %. For compatibilized and uncompatibilized blends, no significant change in the degree of crystallinity of LDPE in the blends was observed, and so the effect of crystallization on the space charge distribution could be excluded. Morphological observations showed that the addition of SEBS resulted in a domain size reduction of the dispersed PS phase and better interfacial adhesion between the LDPE and PS phases. The location of SEBS at a domain interface enabled charges to migrate from one phase to the other via the domain interface and, therefore, resulted in a significant decrease in the amount of space charge for the LDPE/PS blends with SEBS. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fabrication and Characteristics of Sol-Gel Derived Fluorinated Hybrid Material Films

Fluorinated inorganic-organic hybrid materials (HYBRIMER) were successfully prepared from fluoroalkylsilanes (FASs) containing fluoro-alkyl functions and methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) through a sol-gel process. The influence of concentration and fluoro-alkyl chain lengths of FASs on the physical characteristics of the fluorinated HYBRIMER films was examined. Larger fluorine contents lowered the refractive index within a range, which was closely dependent on the fluoro-alkyl chain lengths of FASs. Thermo-optic coefficients (TOC) were negative values, and the values grew with increasing fluorine contents and fluoro-alkyl chain lengths. Also, the thermal stability is enhanced by addition of fluorine in the HYBRIMER.     

On division rings with algebraic commutators of bounded degree

We shall answer several questions concerning additive or multiplicative commutators in a division ring which are algebraic of bounded degree over its center.     

The classical limit of the relativistic Vlasov–Maxwell system in two space dimensions

The motion of a collisionless plasma is modelled by the Vlasov–Maxwell system. In this paper, solutions of the relativistic Vlasov–Maxwell system are considered in two space dimensions. The speed of light, c, appears as a parameter in the system. With representations of the electric and magnetic fields, conditions are established under which solutions of the relativistic Vlasov–Maxwell system converge pointwise to solutions of the non‐relativistic Vlasov–Poisson system as c tends to infinity, at the asymptotic rate of 1/c. 生物质洁净能源研究中的流化床动力学模型

分别对最小流化床、鼓泡流化床和腾涌流化床及相应的全混模型、鼓泡模型、气泡汇集模型等加以综述 ,分析其优缺点 ,并在此基础上提出动力学模拟研究的新思路 .根据流化床内在的本质———流化态的不同 ,将流化床分为最小流化床、鼓泡流化床和腾涌流化床三种 .总结了前人针对各种流化床提出的全混模型、鼓泡模型、气泡汇集模型等思想 ,建议今后可以在以下几个方面进行深入研究 :⑴使得模型更有普适性 .⑵由于气泡有效直径尚不能在理论上求得 ,可以在理想气泡直径变化公式的基础上 ,加入非线性化学的计算 .⑶确定不同情况下的参数 ,使得工作更有延续性 ,也使得模型更加具有生命力 .⑷从高压的角度去进行模型的计算 ,并得到相应的试验数据支持 .

The reaction of Me₂CuLi with sterically congested α,β-unsaturated esters in the presence of TMSCl in CH₂Cl₂ proceeded very smoothly to produce the conjugate addition products in high yields.     

Superfield form of discrete gauge states in ĉ = 1 2d supergravity

A general formula for the discrete states (NeveuSchwarz sector) in N = 1 2D super-Liouville theory is written down in the world-sheet supersymmetric form. We then derive a set of gauge states at the discrete momenta. These discrete gauge states are shown to carry the ω_∞ charges and serve as the symmetry parameters in the old covariant quantization of the theory.     

A possibility of parallel and anti-parallel diffraction measurements on neutron diffractometer employing bent perfect crystal monochromator at the monochromatic focusing condition

In a conventional diffractometer having single monochromator, only one position, parallel position, is used for the diffraction experiment (i.e. detection) because the resolution property of the other one, anti-parallel position, is very poor. However, a bent perfect crystal (BPC) monochromator at monochromatic focusing condition can provide a quite flat and equal resolution property at both parallel and anti-parallel positions and thus one can have a chance to use both sides for the diffraction experiment. From the data of the FWHM and the Δd/d measured on three diffraction geometries (symmetric, asymmetric compression and asymmetric expansion), we can conclude that the simultaneous diffraction measurement in both parallel and anti-parallel positions can be achieved.     

Generation of 0.2-TW 5.5-fs optical pulses at 1 kHz using a differentially pumped hollow-fiber chirped-mirror compressor

Optical pulses with 1.1-mJ energy and 5.5-fs duration have been generated at 1-kHz repetition rate from a chirped pulse amplification Ti:Sapphire laser incorporating a differentially pumped hollow-fiber chirped-mirror compressor. The effects of self-focusing and multi-photon ionization during the beam propagation were minimized by differentially pumping the hollow fiber filled with neon. The spectral broadening at the hollow-fiber compressor was optimized by adjusting gas pressure, laser intensity, and laser chirp, covering from 540 nm to 950 nm. PACS 42.65.Jx; 42.65.Re
